MT Horeb K-5 PTO Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Leah, Mickey, Tracy, Darren, Andrea, Jenn, Melissa
Ryan, who works with the Norsk Run came to talk about a possible school board run. Need about 4 months to plan a run, one meeting a month. Things to think about: Course, Sponsers (usually about 10 sponsers), T-Shirts, Cost not much: awards, metals, ribbons. Work with Police Department on course. 4 Team members: sponserships, race forms, course, marketing. Day of race: 12-15 volunteers. Registrations, pre-registration packets, holding signs, etc. If pre-register before a specific date you get a t-shirt. Norsk averages 120 runners a year. Need tags on Jerseys. Price discount for families. Possible donation of water or baked goods. Chamber of Commerce will have a list of most event in the Villageo see when to best plan. Insurance: PTO has liability insurance. We'll need to check our policy.
Sarah 4K director. Came to discuss Parent's Place. She is willing to send out flyers for PTO events. Partnership between 4K and PTO.
Budget is own $10,000 from previous years. Beginning Balance: $3,900. We'll post the budget on the website.
No Fund Requests.

0 Orders for last month. Labels will be colored, need to get the fonts for the files.
School Board Issues
Locked Entrances discussed.
Coffee sales should be done in the next few weeks. When you sign up for the website you can opt out for newsletter, e-commerce and volunteering.
Mailchimp integrated into the website. Parent's can opt in to the directory. Parent's must sign up to be included in the directory. You also must be registered on the website to view the information.
Darren has volunteered to do printing. We also discussed getting the Mount Horeb mail to post something about events.
Fall Fundraiser - 10 Orders is all we have. Orders are due this Friday/Monday.
FallFootloose - DJ Booked. Melissa will get snacks. Jenn will order glow bracelets. 22 volunteers. Talk to IC about using the Orange Vests.
Yankee Candle - Starts Oct 3rd.
Craft Night - We are meeting next Weds to discuss crafts. We are going to do some new crafts.
Basket Theme Ideas - We went over a list of themes. Discussed how to handle getting items.
Playtime Productions - Not going to happen this year.
Non-Profit Status - New form from July of thid year. $400 instead of $850. 4 Page form rather than a 28 page form. 60,000 applicants right now for non-profits. Looking for a lawyer to help us with getting our 501(c)(3) status. Profit from School Kidz - We made $4 a kit. We sold 20 kits.
Possibility of doing SRICP for next year. Parent's order gift cards and PTO gets a portion back.

The purpose of the Mt. Horeb K-5 PTO is to advocate for children, teachers, parents, and schools. We strive to create a closer working relationship between home and school and to enhance communication among parents, teachers, and community members.
The PTO is dedicated to enriching Mt. Horeb school children’s educational experience. The PTO is your organization. Your participation is valuable and indispensable! Please help at any level that your schedule allows. Volunteers are needed to design and implement PTO programs and projects and to help coordinate existing activities. Please share your time and talents! We thank you for your past support, and ask you for your continued involvement in these wonderful programs.
Formed in the fall of 1989 this organization is open to all parents of elementary children as well as elementary teachers and community members.
